In 1957 Gisborne's water supply worries were soon to be over, according to a report in "Photo News" at that time, as the new 21-inch pipeline neared its destination at Waingake. Today the problem is as acute as ever, with the City Council stepping up its second reservoir scheme at Mangapoike for completion by the summer of 1969. Our picture shows a section of the then new 21-inch pipeline.
