This will enable pedestrians to cross the river even more quickly with the Stanley Road footbridge now in operation.

Water is pumped down through a hole in the centre of the pile which liquefies the contacted soil which in turn flows up the outside of the pile as it is driven down.

This pic, sent in by Rod Faulkner, shows the new truck on a trip to the Waioeka.

Made by H. Webber at Ilfracombe in England the workmanship in the clock is superb.

It would be worth a few pence too as better known clocks of this vintage are valued at £2,000.

The three storey building is beginning to show its dominant shape and here we see the roof beams being placed in position.

Lifted by crane the steel beams are placed over the holding bolts, then welded into place.

A start has been made on the footbridge over the Mangapapa stream at Grundy Street.

The Gisborne Canoe and Tramping Club recently traded in their old truck for a 1955 Bedford. Their new truck has an aluminium body with room enough for fifteen members inside.

Good progress is being made with the construction of the new Police Station in Peel Street.
