The effort of bringing this giant mushroom in from Kanakanaia must have been a little bit much for Cindy and Jenny, the daughters of Graeme and Wiki Lewis, 186 Cobden Street, on a recent Saturday. However, they had recovered enough by the Monday to hold up their "umbrella" for us.

A trip to the South Island encompassing 3,400 miles from Gisborne and back was recently undertaken by members of the Taruheru C.W.I.

Sent in by W. A. Emanuel, Wairoa, is this pic or Guy Kidd, an old boy of Gisborne Boys' High at his father's grave in Germany. An officer in the R. A.F. in World War 11, Guy's father was killed during a bombing over Munich and is buried in this War Cemetery at Durnbach.

Celebrating her 84th birthday is Mrs E. Trowell, Te Wiremu House. Coming to Gisborne in 1914, Mrs Trowell has now retired from social activities and 50 years' work in various organisations.
