Pictures From The Past

With the travelling time from Gisborne to Tolaga Bay taking just on an hour it is a far cry from the old days when a trip over that distance took from seven in the morning until five at night or even longer.

The journey was accomplished by horses and coach along the coast where a stop was made for lunch at the Pakarae Hotel which used to he near Whangara Pa, and where a change of horses was made.
