Probationary Assistant Teachers' Graduation

The graduation ceremony for probationary assistant teachers was held in the assembly hall of the Intermediate School at the end of last year. Thirty-three graduates were on hand to receive their certificates.

A branch of Birthright was formed recently in Gisborne. To be known as "Birthright" (Gisborne) Incorporated, the objects of the society are to make available a service of advice, guidance and financial assistance to children where the support and guidance of a father and/or mother is no longer available; and to assist, also, in all matters to do with the education, benefit and advancement in the life of such children. The Gisborne society's officers are vice-president John Egan, Bevan Wright, Murray Connor, Bill Bishop, Barry Kerr and, in front, Lawson Whisker, secretary-treasurer Boris Thrupp, president Jack Betteridge, vice-president Wyn Ellis, Ken Forrest and Mrs Jess Warren.
