Waikanae Beach Carnival

Contributing in no small way to the enjoyment of both holiday-makers and residents, the Waikanae Beach Carnival, organised by that committee, was unfortunate enough to be dogged by unseasonable showery weather, as was the rest of the country.

No expense was spared and top class stage and TV acts were brought to the city for everyone's pleasure.

Also as part of the carnival a talent quest was held, along with a Mrs and Miss Gisborne contest, and there was something on every night for the public.
