Speedway Thrills

Gisborne speedway got a shot in the arm from its Christmas meeting at the Patutahi Domain circuit when a strong contingent of Auckland and Hawkes Bay riders provided stiff and spectacular opposition for the local lads.

The meeting was the first major event on the new track at Patutahi, and was watched by a large crowd in good weather.

Added to a full programme of motorcycle, midget car, and gokart races was Hawkes Bay stunt man Herb Lever and his "Roly-Poly" car.
