Pictures From The Past

The picture is interesting as besides containing such names as Price, Mortimer, Ashby, Clayton, Sandlant and Pickett, the occupations of some of them read out as draper, storekeeper, builder, blacksmith, railway ganger, sawmiller and coachbuilder, which gives an idea of the changes which have taken place in the area since.

The Te Karaka Gun Club of 1912 taken after they had won the Licensed Victuallers' Cup that year.

Recently changed hands is the old established business of Allan Sutton's in Peel Street. Taken around 1924 the picture shows (from left) Bill Watts, Allan Sutton, John Watts and George Goldsmith on the footpath in front of the shop with Allan Sutton's Buick on the road.
