Gisborne was host to a number of Mayors recently when they gathered in town for the provincial cities Mayors' conference.
Taken at the Municipal Chambers, the Mayors are, from left, at back, Messrs J. F. Johnson (Whangarei), D. S. Mitchell (Tauranga), Dr D. Rogers (Hamilton), Messrs R. P. Andrews (Wanganui), P. D. Cox (Napier), and in front A. G. Honnor (New Plymouth), H. H. Barker (Gisborne), R. Giorgi (Hastings) and G. M. Rennie (Palmerston North).

At a function held recently the proceeds of the island market day organised by the Lions Club were presented to the president of the Gisborne-East Coast Branch of the Intellectually Handicapped Children's Committee, Mr Ian Smith.
With Mr Eric Oakley (Lions president) after the presentation is Mr Smith holding the cheque for the amount of £1,300.
