The main street of Tolaga Bay in the old days, named after Capt. James Cook who, on 22nd October, 1769, called at Cook's Cove, a distance of 2½ miles from the township.

With fine weather continuing, many of the local sheep stations have completed their dry shearing, such as at Titirangi Station, where a night pen awaits the shears.
