Paying his annual visit to the Gisborne Army Office, Lt. Col. H. L. Jones talks with Capt. G. M. Connor, Staff Officer J. Bothamley and Sgt. J. Robson. The Director of Recruiting, Army HQ, Wellington, Lt. Col. Jones assists the local office with any recruiting problems which may be evident.

Received from Gisborne's adopted ship, H.M.N.Z.S. Blackpool, is this replica of the ship's crest. Sent by the captain, Commander J. G. Quinn, it is admired here by Mr W. Hudson, the Town Clerk, and Mr H. H. Barker, the Mayor. The replica is to be hung in the municipal chambers.

Aspiring ballerinas who have done well for themselves in the past year are Annette Goodwin, winner Gisborne Ballet Group's scholarship, Avon Poulsen, a considerable number of competition successes, Janet Zame, winner of the Ballet Group's Scott Memorial Trophy and Karen Peake, winner of the Miss McQueen cup for under-nines.

Seven other ballet students to pass their R.A.D. grade exams with honours are Judith Grealish, Trudy Steele, Leithe Wattie, Shelley Kane, and, in front, Suzanne Kazazi, Kay Aberhart and Susan Burnett.
