A Day at the Races

Overcast conditions and a heavy track were the order of the day when the Poverty Bay Turf Club held its spring meeting at Makaraka.

A good finish was seen to the first leg of the double, The Waihirere Wines Handicap, when David Jeff scored a win, in his first start over a middle distance, under the expert guidance of R. J. Skelton.

Kowood made it three in a row when he took the Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase from Fontenelle and Aorangi.
