Sportsman of the Month

Max Barrington, 24, son of Mr and Mrs F. Barrington, 11 Redmond Street, has done particularly well in his chosen sport of motor cycle racing, in which he has, in the past, been concentrating mainly on road racing.

With the intention of going in for hill climbing Max is building up an Ariel from a 1936 500cc motor and a late model frame.

Although attending meetings around the country means long trips away from home (there is no competitive racing in Gisborne), Max has had considerable success during the1965-66 season. He won the North Island 500 Beach Championship at Whangarei, gained several places at the Tauranga meet and was overall 5th in the N.Z. Senior T.T. Champs at Pukekohe.
