In 1960 the Tolaga Bay Dairy Co-op closed down and the Kia-Ora Dairy Co-op took over the run. Pictured transferring some of the cream cans are former members of the staff at Tolaga Bay. Facing the camera is Arthur Noanoa who now lives in Gisborne and still drives for the Kia Ora Co.

The expert in action. Formerly of Tikitiki and now living in Tolaga Bay, Heke Katai has well earned himself a reputation as a hangi cook, often being called on to preside over the formation of these underground ovens.
