Midwinter Surfing Championships

The Gisborne Surf Riders' Club held its mid-winter surfing championships at Midway where local, Bay of Plenty and Hawkes Bay clubs competed. Although the surf was fairly good it was not conducive to spectacular riding.

Congratulations to Alan Byrne on his selection as one of the two New Zealander representatives to go to the U.S. and World Surfing Championships to be held in California later this month. He will be accompanied by Dave Burns, of Gisborne, who will be the New Zealand delegate.
