The Gisborne Aero Club took delivery of their new Cessna 'plane when it was flown down from Auckland by former Gisbornite Graham McDonald.
After taking a remarkable 1hr 40mins for the journey, Graham hands over the aircraft to club instructor Charlie Down (left), and club captain Tau Rakuraku (right).
Boris Thrupp, of the Porter Garage in Awapuni Road, had the job. of replenishing the Army's fuel supplies when the R.N.Z. Army Service Corps was carrying out its "Operation Thunderball". He poured 756 gallons into 32 vehicles in 1hr 47mins.
