P.B. Table Tennis Champs

There were no surprises in the major placings at the annual Poverty Bay residents' table tennis championship held in the Y.M.C.A. stadium.

Both reigning men's and women's A grade champions, John Parker and Beverley Walker (above), retained their titles despite some strong opposition from other leading players.

The event proved an ideal warm-up, both for competitors and organisers, for the Silver Jubilee North Island Championships to be held in Gisborne next weekend.
