Surf Club Vandalised

Five plate-glass windows, valued at £150, in the front of the Midway Surf Life-saving Club's building, were broken by vandals last month.

Completed less than one year ago at a cost of £18,000, the building was the culmination of 14 years' fund raising and effort by members of the club.

Two youths, when interviewed by the police, admitted visiting the beach, collecting large stones, and hurling them through the windows.

The incident followed other damage to the exterior and surrounds of the building.

One wonders at the mentality and irresponsibility of people who perform such senseless acts of destruction.
