The strip of coast between Opotiki and East Cape is full of historical interest and relics of the whaling days may still be seen.

The jaw bones of a whale form an archway to the Catholic Church at Raukokore.

The Anglican Church at Raukokore is one of the most attractive landmarks on the coast between Opotiki and Cape Runaway.
