The announcement that Richardson and Co., will no longer be working East Coast ports, and that the Kopara will be sold has come as a shock to the people of Tokomaru Bay who are used to seeing that ship working at the wharf.

Erosion is causing concern at Tokomaru Bay township where the Mangahauini stream is only a few yards from the bitumen.
