Opening Rugby Match

The Poverty Bay senior representative team started its 1966 season on a poor note when it was defeated 19-nil by Bay of Plenty at Rugby Park.

The visiting team's secret of success lay mainly in the forwards, a heavy, powerful pack whose weight superiority gave them a considerable advantage in the vital battle for possession.
