The 280ft Mangahauini Stream bridge No 1, being built at Tokomaru Bay by Ferguson Construction Company of Napier, took a step closer to completion when the first of many prestressed concrete beams, weighing nine tons each, was winched into position.

The nine span bridge is to be completed by the end of this year.
