National Skating Champions
Gisborne Skating Club members acquitted themselves well at the recent New Zealand Roller Skating Championships in Hastings.
In addition to filling many minor placings, the local competitors took two titles and set a new New Zealand record.
Winners of the junior pairs freestyle event were Bruce Willson and Wendy Atkinson. Bruce also gained second place in the junior boys' freestyle.
Ron Scott won the juvenile quarter-mile speed event in record time of 1min 54.5sec.
