The Gisborne Photo News

The Editor's Corner

Life in Gisborne, seen through the lens of "Photo News" cameras, never seems to fail in variety and interest. This month, for instance, we record such diverse happenings as the opening of a fine new football ground at the Park Domain, the onslaught of winter in all its uncomfortable fury, ranging from snow on the hills to floods on the flats, and the unusual fact that local divers keep their form through the off-season by diving into sawdust. In other directions we illustrate the popularity of archery in Gisborne, which is the home of the world's champion in this sport. We move on from that to the subject of magicians at work and play; from that to a record catch of fish made possible by electronics; and then to yet another notable Gisborne milestone, the opening of a service which places the library resources of the whole Dominion within reach of the local reader.

In between times, we note that people keep reaching their majority, getting engaged and married, going away or coming back, acting on the stage, growing prize pigs and pumpkins, and moving houses about the streets.

It is said that to be happy you should keep busy. Gisborne certainly keeps us busy here at "Photo News".
