The work done over a long period of years for the Awapuni School by Mr and Mrs W.H. Frazer was recognised at a social gathering at the school. Tributes to their work on the school committee were voiced by many present, after which Mr and Mrs Frazer were presented with a handsome chiming clock to mark the end of their service on the committee. Mr and Mrs Frazer are seated in picture with Mr P. L. Page (right), secretary of the Hawkes Bay Education Board. Standing are Mr W. Phillips (headmaster) and Mr R. Graham (chairman of the school committee).

Mrs G.J. Jeune, who was farewelled at a number of functions before leaving to live in Wellington. She has been closely associated with the work of the National Party, the Girl Guides, and the Hine Materoa Home. Mr Jeune was recently appointed a judge of the Maori Land Court.
