A beautiful tapestry of "The Last Supper", which was started by a patient of the Cook Hospital, Miss Naida Hansen, with the intention of presenting it to the proposed hospital chapel, was completed by 74-year-old Mr H. V. Ravenhill, 11 Shaw Street, after Miss Hansen's untimely death last December. Mr Ravenhill is pictured presenting the finished tapestry to Miss R. D. Bunt, matron of the hospital, with two sisters of the late Miss Hansen, Mesdames E. Salmon (left) and L. Mallon.

A young man who has had considerable success in oratory competitions during the past few months is Ralph Gardiner, son of Mr and Mrs A. R. Gardiner, 11 Cheeseman Road. A pupil of Miss Maureen Keaney and the Boys' High School, Ralph became the first person to win both the Rotary and Overseas League oratory contests in the same year. He also won a cup in the Competitions Society's annual festival.

This pleasant parking "bluey" was issued to Gisborne tourist Lorraine Cornish, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Cornish, Gaddums Hill, while visiting Denmark during her two-year tour of Britain and the Continent. Lorraine is pictured on her scooter at right.
