Forerunners of what is now a very popular female sport in Gisborne, this group of women were the foundation members of the Ladies' Section of the Kahutia Bowling Club.

Over 26 years ago, an historical wedding took place at Rangitukia, Tikitiki, when the late Rev Tunoa Wanoa, of Tikitiki, was married to Katahua Grace of Tuparoa, Ruatoria, by the late Canon P. M. The flower-girls were Huinga Kawhia and Maiangi Whangapirata.
