Changing Face

The Midway Surf Life-saving Club's magnificent new clubhouse, complete with public changing sheds, shop, and cabaret floor, will be completed by the end of next month. Costing about £18,000, the building is a much-needed and attractive addition to Gisborne's beach front.

The new clubhouse is a vast improvement on the club's former premises at Midway Beach.

The Open Brethrens' new church and youth centre, in Gladstone Road opposite Four Squuare's bulk store, with its unusual roof design, has attracted much interest. To be called the Bethel Gospel Chapel, it was designed by an Auckland architect firm, and will be completed by November.

A.B.C. Motors Ltd have transferred from Gladstone Road to their new premises adjacent to the Supermarket, with entrances off both Gladstone and Roebuck Roads.

Ormonds Motors Ltd will be moving their new and used car servicing department, at present in Peel Street, to this new building on their property in Gladstone Road.

The P.B. Electric Power Board's new sub-station beside the Peei Street bridge in the process of construction.

To make way for Ormond Motors' building programme in Gladstone Road, A.B.C. Motors' old building was demolished, to bare to public view this old bakehouse at its rear. Ormonds are now commencing construction of a new office and showroom block on this site.
