Harry Barker Reserve

In honour of the service given to the city by Mr H. H. Barker during his 15 years in office as Mayor, the council recently officially named the recreation areas in the new housing sub-division on the site of the former Turanganui Golf Course the "Harry Barker Reserve".

When completed, the area will contain 66 choice sections for future new-home owners, surrounding two areas of park land.

When "Photo News" visited the area earlier this month, it was in the process of being levelled by a team of giant earthmovers, and streets and sections were being laid out.
