The "Sleeping Beauty" Ballet

A capacity audience filled the Opera House for the New Zealand Ballet Company's 1965 winter season performance of the Russian classic, The Sleeping Beauty.

Dancing to the inspiring music of Tchaikovsky, the artists excelled themselves in bringing to life on the stage the age-old tale of the Princess who was put to sleep by the wicked fairy, to be awakened years later by the kiss of a handsome Prince.

Stars of the show were Patricia O'Connor as Princess Aurora, Georgene Walker as the Lilac Fairy, Loma Rogers as Princess Florisse, Jon Trimmer as the Prince, and Tony Pannell as the bluebird.
