New Church Opened

A new Catholic Church, Our Lady Star of the Sea, at Torere, 18 miles east of Opotiki, was recently opened and blessed by his Lordship, Bishop Delargy, of Auckland.

The opening of the church was the culmination of many months' work by the five Catholic families in the district, who, with the cooperation of Maori families from Opotiki to Te Araroa, bought and converted the four-room building. (Pictures by K. M. Connor).
