"Welcome Kenny Ball"

Jazz king Kenny Ball was given a big welcome by members of the Waihirere Maori Concert Party in the foyer of the Opera House prior to his recent performance there. Although Kenny had previously visited New Zealand, he has never seen a concert party in action, and requested the Waihirere Club to perform for him. He is pictured being greeted with a traditional Maori hongi by Girlie Marino, a member of the party. Kenny was obviously impressed with the club's performance, and was heard to utter, "Great,Dad".
