New Citizens

Seven candidates took the oath of allegiance to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, before the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, at a citizenship ceremony, held during a recent council meeting.

A feature of the ceremony was the naturalisation of four members of one family, Mr and Mrs A. Metsers, and their son and daughter, Paulus and Henriette, who immigrated to New Zealand from Holland 13 years ago.
