Comings and Goings

Photo News visited Gisborne's broadcasting stations 2ZG and 2YW and found six new-comers to the city on their staffs.

Mary Leggett, Makarori Beach, who was formerly in the advertising business in Auckland, is now a trainee announcer.

London-born Roy Port, with his wife Joan, recently arrived from Auckland to take up full-time announcing. Now of 22 Argyle Street, Roy was previously on the staff of Woman's Weekly, but prior to this, was a television announcer in Western Australia where he conducted a children's show with famous Australian character singer Ralph Harris.

Another former Aucklander, Jim Vanisselroy, now of 116 Sheehan Street, is a trainee copywriter with the station.

Two new programmes department staff are Graeme Smith, 30 Roebuck Road, who transferred from Station 2XB, Masterton, and Karen McKinnon, 24 Ormond Road, and formerly of Cricklewood Road, Wairoa.

Diane Moir, York Street, an ex-Wellingtonian, is also a trainee copywriter.

Mr and Mrs A. Ciprian, with their daughter Fleur, and son Mark, who have moved to Gisborne from Rotorua. A former policeman, Mr Ciprian is now proprietor of the Te Hapara Dairy, in Gladstone Road.

Mr Ken Hughes, pictured with his wife Gail, and son David, who has been transferred to Wellington with the State Insurance Company. Formerly of 514 Gladstone Road, Ken was a prominent local hockey player, first representing the Bay as a colt in 1956, and as captain of the senior representative side for the past three years.

Mr B. T. O'Malley, former officer in charge of the Gisborne Inland Revenue, has been transferred to Hamilton, where he has taken the position of assistant district commissioner. He is pictured with his family at their home at 41 Chalmers Road. From left: Kay, Gregory, Mrs O'Malley, Sharon, Mr O'Malley, and Patricia. Absent: Brian.
