Tops In The Kitchen

Four Gisborne Sea Rangers proved their abilities in the kitchen recently when they won the annual Bata Cooking Competition, contested by Guide teams throughout the country.

Members of the S.R.S. Endeavour crew, the girls were required to prepare and serve a four-course meal for four, at a cost of less than 7/6 per head.

The team first won the local and district contests, before going on to win the national one.

For their efforts, the girls each received £6, a travelling clock, a pair of shoes, and a free trip to Auckland to collect their prizes from the Minister of Housing, Mr J. Rae, at a variety concert in the town hall.
