First Road Races Of The Season

The Gisborne Amateur Cycling Club's 1965 road-racing season got off to a good start early this month when two races, for colts, and seniors and juniors combined, were staged in blustery conditions over the Makaraka circuits.

Winner of the senior event, of 14 miles, was Kevin Whitely, who rode well to head off a field of ten riders.

The colts' race resulted in a win for Tommy Wilson, with Howard Bowman second, and Alan Harvey third.
