Beauties On Parade

The ten provincial finalists in the 1965 "Miss New Zealand" contest paraded on the Opera House stage when they visited Gisborne with the star-studded "Miss New Zealand Show".

Sponsored by Dunedin promoter Joe Brown, the show featured an all-New Zealand cast, with well-known show-biz personalities Howard Morrison, Peter Posa, John Hore, and Lou and Simon providing a wide variety of entertainment.

The Quin Tikis band, with the assistance of their comical drummer Garry, were successful in stealing more than their allotted share of the programme, and in many cases, overshadowed the featured artists.

The final of the "Miss New Zealand" contest will be decided in Dunedin on June 7th.
