The southern approach to the Rotokoutuku Bridge, across the Waiapu River near Ruatoria, has been the scene of much activity in recent months as earthmoving machinery has shifted 180,000 cubic yards of spoil in the process of cutting a new approach road.
Looking back to Te Puia with the old road at right, and the new road sweeping downhill at left.
A bus takes a short-cut through the bush road.
