Comings and Goings

On this and the following pages we picture families and individuals who in recent weeks have either moved to, or left, Gisborne.

Mr and Mrs J. B. Barnett and their two sons, Gerald (left)and Brian, who have moved to Gisborne from Wellington. Mr Barnett recently took the position of manager of the local branch of the A.M.P. Insurance Company.

Miss Lilian Rawhiti, a tele-toll operator with the Gisborne exchange for five years, has been transferred to Otahuhu.

Mr R. Nicol, the Gisborne P. and T. Dept's new District. Engineer, is pictured with his wife and family, Margaret and Geoffrey. The Nicol family was previously of Palmerston North.

Sergeant B. L. Crafts, 16 Pine Street, who has returned to Gisborne after 12 years away in the New Zealand Army to take the position of Cadre N.C.O. with A Company, 7 R.N.Z.I.R. Sgt. Crafts is also Drum Major for the Gisborne Civic Band.

Colin Twigley, twin son of Mrs G. E. Twigley, 461 Aberdeen Road, a prominent Gisborne rugby player, athlete, and swimmer, has been transferred by the Public Trust Office to Hawera, Taranaki.

Mr and Mrs D. G. L. Steed, Stout Street, and their children, Sue, Nigel, and Graham, have moved to Blenheim where Mr Steed, who has been a member of the Gisborne Courthouse staff for many years, will become deputy-registrar.

Mr D. W. Tattersall, A.R.C.O., A.R.C.M., L.R.A.M., with Mrs Tattersall, has taken the position of organist at Holy Trinity Church, and music teacher at Lytton High School. Formerly of North Wales, Mr Tattersall gained his diplomas in London, and is now in temporary residence at 109 Lytton Road.

Mr and Mrs Ralph Gleason, and sons (from left) John, Chris, and Paul, who have moved to 15 Willow street from Dannevirke. Mr Gleason is the new manager of the Reliance Tyre Company, and is a member of Jaycee and the Poverty Bay Referees' Association.

Miss Prue Hawkins, only daughter of Mr and Mrs D. J. Hawkins, Makahi, Te Karaka, has sailed on the Northern Star for England and the Continent for an extended working holiday.

Miss Winifred Ballard, daughter of Mrs E. J. Tarre, 51 Centennial Crescent, has gone to Wellington to work in the Treasury Department.

Mr T. W. Lighton, 2 Grey Street, who is conductor of the Gisborne Federal Band, pictured with his wife at Darton Field prior to his departure for two months' holiday in Sydney and Melbourne.

Mr Lighton obliged members of the band who turned out at the airport to give him a musical farewell by conducting a number.
