The changing expressions of a spectator are captured in these four pictures of a girl watching her favourite team come from a seemingly hopeless position (1), to a better (2), and even better place (3), and eventually, to final victory.

Michael and Grant McCreedy, of 594 Gladstone Road, had to use a step-ladder to harvest the broad beans in the McCreedy garden this year. They grew to a height of nine feet! The plants produced an excellent crop.

Although the day threatened to be wet, it cleared and the weather was perfect for the annual Matawhero Sports. This picture, taken from the high stopbank of the Waipaoa River, shows the sports in progress on Mr Ballard's property on the Willows Road.
