Italian Roller Skating Champions

A team of four Italian roller skating champions thrilled Gisborne audiences at Alfred Cox Park when they visited the city during their month-long New Zealand tour.

The team consisted of Loretta Mangili, 20 year-old figure skater, her partner, Antonio Erlo, and two speed champions, Vittorio de Cesaris and Franco Bertolini.

The visitors were a little troubled by the small size of the Gisborne rink, but soon adapted themselves and turned on polished performances.

New Zealand champions Lorraine Martin and Ken Aberhart (formerly of Gisborne), also performed.
