The Spring Show

After stormy weather had threatened the first day of the annual Poverty Bay A and P Spring Show at the Showgrounds, "Old Man Weather", as in previous years, smiled down on the People's Day to ensure a good attendance and the success of the show.

Following a rather indifferent start in the morning, crowds of spectators, many of them dressed in their colourful summer wear, swelled the attendance to almost 7000.

The grand parade was for many the climax of the event, with horsemen and stock of every description taking part.

The trades exhibits, although fewer than last year, created plenty of interest, and as usual the carnival area was very popular with the younger patrons.
