An Offshore View Of The City

Part of this tenth anniversary issue of "Photo News" is devoted to a pictorial review of the decade's progress. One of the really big developments of the next few years will be the building of Gisborne's overseas port, and this photograph clearly shows the scene where the Harbour Board is to spend £653,000. A new wharf is to be built just beyond the landward end of the breakwater, and a turning basin for ships is to be dredged out in the area enclosed by Butler's Wall.
