Apple Packing Contest

The Department of Agriculture, in conjunction with the Poverty Bay Fruitgrowers Association, recently held an apple packing contest in the fruit shed of Tom Brodie, Riverpoint Road, Matawhero.

Held to help Improve the standard of work in the district and to create interest in the industry, the contest was the first to be staged since 1936.

The pictures on this page were taken during the children's championships, won in the girls' section by Lyn Brodie, and in the boys' by Neville Brodie.
