Seventy-year-old Mr W. H. Scott, 389 Clifford Street, this year missed the first Anzac Parade since their commencement In 1920, when he was hospitalised following a fall at Lake Tutira. He is pictured with his wife, wearing the medals he won at Gallipoli and in France during World War I. Next year, the couple hope to travel to Gallipoli for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the famous battle. Mr Scott will be known by many Gisborne residents as "Scottie", and was a traffic officer in the district for 18 years.

Mr A. J. H. Kirkham. 160 Clifford Street, who was invested with the M.B.E.for long service to local bodies following the announcement of the Queen's Sew Year honours list. Mr Kirkham has been a member of local bodies in the Hastings and Gisborne districts for 44 years. The Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, was invested with an O.B.E. at the same ceremony.

The president of the New Zealand Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Mrs P. Cooper, of Gisborne, with Lady Fergusson at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Federation held in Auckland during Easter.
