N.A.C's eighth Dakota aircraft to be converted into a skyliner was named "Gisborne". It recently paid its first visit to the city of its name, with the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, as a passenger. On arrival at Darton Field, the Mayoress, Mrs Barker, was presented with a bouquet by the air hostess, Miss M. E. Tuckwell. Pictured with the aircraft are, from left: Mr Barker, Mrs Barker, Miss Tuckwell, Captain C. W. Calder, First Officer R. B. Wood, and Mr C. Bell, branch manager of N.A.C.

A Dannevirke motorist, Mr A. Patterson, who is chairman of the Dannevirke Railway and Locomotive Society, likes to drive his car, a 1950 model Ford Prefect, along railway lines. He recently made 40 crossings of the Gisborne railway bridge spanning the Turanganui River, at a speed of 20 miles per hour. Although the car has a natural tendency to stay on the rails once moving, it is fitted with safety guides.
