Our Cover

Making a colourful picture for our magazine cover this month are three lambs, Smoky, Bluey, and Pinky, who were the star attractions at the recent Wool Board fashion parade. Attractive fashion models Bridget Gebbie, Nicky Hansen, and Patti Johnson, wearing some of the latest woollen garments displayed in the parade, make charming companions for the pampered baa-baas.

Back Cover. This aerial shot in colour, taken from a Gisborne Aero Club aircraft, looks straight up the harbour to Kaiti suburb. The two waterways are the Turanganui River and the harbour channel. At left is Watties' factory, some of the big wool stores, and Customhouse Street leading to Gladstone road. At right are the Harbour Board workshops and the Freezing Works at the foot of Kaiti Hill. Note how the colour camera has picked up the papa shelf in the left foreground. It is this shelf which must be excavated to make the turning basin for the new overseas ship harbour.
