A working bee has commenced the task of renovating the building, which has stood empty for some time.

It is ideally situated in large grounds surrounded by native bush, and should prove to be a wonderful asset to the organisation.

The old Beale homestead, and former maternity annex of the Waiapu Hospital Board, at Waipiro Bay, which was purchased recently by Mr A. B. Williams and presented to the Gisborne Y.M.C.A. for use as a holiday camp for boys and girls.

The steel slide which was erected during the building's hospital days as an escape for babies in the event of fire.

Following the competitors in the H.B.-P.B. swimming championships' long distance race in Poverty Bay was four-year-old Michael Adams, who accompanied his father, Bruce, around the course on a surf ski.
