Barry McGee in Gisborne

The Auckland long-distance running star, Barry Magee, competed in a three-mile handicap race at a Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club meeting, during his visit to Gisborne recently.

Matched against a strong field of 13 local runners, Magee ran a smooth and comparatively easy race to win comfortably from Alan Parkinson, with a time of 14min 20.6sec.
