Citizenship Ceremony

Sixteen people took the oath of allegiance to the Queen before the Mayor of Gisborne, Mr H. H. Barker, at a citizenship ceremony held at a special City Council meeting in the Council Chambers, Fitzherbert Street, recently.

The candidates represented six nations.

After taking the oath on the bible, each candidate was presented with a certificate of New Zealand citizenship.

Mr George Harri Oskar Schmidt: German

Mr Niels Kristian Madsen: Danish

Mrs Nanny Madsen: Danish

Mr Antonius Urselmann: Dutch
